Cycling CME Mountain Bike Western Colorado 2016
Our Inaugural Mountain Bike Conference was a huge success and we would like to say a big “Thank You” to all our attendees! It was a pleasure getting to know each and every one of you during our time of learning & riding, eating & sharing stories. Memories were made and friendships formed as we spent the week together here in Western Colorado.
Our conference theme was “Care of the Active Patient” and we learned through classroom-style lectures, participant participation, and on-the-trail workshops. Topics included: Exercise is Medicine, Nutrition in the Athlete, Case Studies of the Injured Athlete, and Exercising in the Heat, Cold & Altitude. After the day’s ride we gathered for our trailhead workshops which focused on: Initial Treatment to the patient injured on the Trail/ in the Wild, Bites and Stings, Friction and You. Our presenters included Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine Physicians, all of whom are outdoor enthusiasts.
The conference was attended by avid mountain bikers who had a great time riding the trails and attending daily CME. Our conference participants came from all over the United States and enjoyed biking on new terrain at the West end of our Valley and into Utah. We rode the classic Western Rim in Rabbit Valley, Kokopelli Trail, and 18 Road Trails in the North Fruita Desert area. Check out the links and see for yourself why Fruita, Colorado has become a hot spot for mountain biking!
We can’t talk about Fruita without giving mention to a local favorite pizzeria – The Hot Tomato! This bike-themed establishment serves up the best pizza & brew and quickly became a favorite of our participants.
We were blessed by wonderful weather and a great group of participants, whom we now call friends. We are already looking forward to Cycling CME Mountain Bike Western Colorado 2017. Hope to see you there!
